The Organization & the Team
COWI’s Building & Industry Executing Unit in Denmark consists of around 1,050 professionals and specialists across building-related disciplines. In this role, you will be responsible for leading teams across five COWI offices in Aalborg, Aarhus, Vejle, Esbjerg and Odense. You will work closely with heads of discipline, project managers, technical directors and business development teams to drive business performance, technical excellence and a strong professional environment.

Buildings & Industry West works closely with Buildings & Industry East to form Denmark’s largest consultancy within the buildings & industry sector. The organization also collaborates closely with colleagues in design centers in Chennai and Vilnius, ensuring robust cross-border cooperation and knowledge sharing.

VP, Head of Engineering - Design Buildings & Industry West
You have a clear vision for developing the business across regions and disciplines

• You facilitate engagement, professional development and performance
• Leadership, commercial drive and market understanding are key
• Direct line management of 7 heads of discipline
• Overall people responsibility for 150 FTE´s within mechanical, electrical and structural building and industrial design

The Challenge
Reporting to the Senior Vice President – Buildings & Industry West you join the senior leadership team at Buildings & Industry West. You will take a focused approach to collaboration, shared responsibility and continuous improvement. In the role of VP, Head of Engineering, your responsibilities are:

• Guide and act as a role model in accordance with COWI’s values and leadership behaviours to create a collaborative and inclusive culture
• Support optimal project delivery and consistent financial performance by ensuring the right competencies are available, resolving technical challenges and participating in customer and senior project meetings
• Translate growth plans and strategic goals into concrete resource and organizational plans in collaboration with other COWI units and design center managers
• Supervise, spar with and manage the performance of your team of heads of discipline, ensuring their ability to perform and grow
• Build engagement and enable a motivated, diverse, and inclusive organization with a dedicated focus on professional and personal development, to position COWI for sustainable growth within Buildings & Industry Design.

On top of that, you will have:

• An academic degree in engineering, such as mechanical, electrical or structural engineering, and extensive experience from a consultancy or engineering environment
• Solid leadership experience in empowering teams and individuals to improve
• Professional proficiency in Danish and English, both written and spoken.
