The Team
In this newly established internal laboratory, the team works with HMO preclinical research and in vitro screening pipeline for different target populations. The team works closely together with Host Microbiome Research Scientist, Bioinformatician, Biostatistician and analytical colleagues to unravel the health benefits related to Human Milk Oligosaccharides. The team is made of creative thinkers and aims to achieve innovative solutions. They collaborate with people across various functions and are not afraid to try new things, keep themselves up to date with the latest research in this field. The Challenge
As Microbiome Scientist, you will be a key part of a diverse team in Hørsholm and Copenhagen. Being a microbiome expert, you will support the team with your microbiology knowledge. You will be responsible for designing and executing microbiology related experiments using different in vitro tools to demonstrate health benefits of different HMOs in terms of microbiome modulation, microbial metabolite production and host microbiome interaction. You will make sure to process, analyze and report your experimental work aiming to publish in peer reviewed journals or collaborate with IP colleagues to apply for patents where relevant.

You will collaborate and support internally with the regulatory, analytical, and business development departments to support innovation initiatives, therefore a commercial mindset is required. You must also like to develop and guide Masters- and PhD candidates making sure they support the research to highest scientific standards.

In this role you will also be involved in developing science material for marketing and commercial teams and be involved in meetings with potential customers. You are passionate and take a proactive approach to keep yourself up to date with the latest research. You explore new ideas, resulting in development of new Intellectual Property.

Your Talent
You have a MSc. and/or PhD. in Microbiology/ Food Technology/ Biological or Medical scientific related subjects. You have 7 + years of professional experience within applied microbiology working with strict anaerobe or difficult to grow bacteria. You are skilled in fermentation studies and passionate about microbiome sciences and health benefits. If you previously have been working related to the area of HMOs, it will be an advantage.

As a person you bring a genuine passion to improve people’s lives and the planets sustainability. You understand what it takes to bring new products to the market. You are a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and are always happy to assist the group, but you are also comfortable working independently, exploring new ideas.

You see opportunities, not obstacles and thrive in an environment, where you can have great impact but also sometimes lay the stones while you are driving and not everything is carved into stones.

You have strong planning skills and attention to details and know, that the capacity to prioritize is essential. Experience in Project Management and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders related to research, innovation and product development will be a great advantage. You have good writing and presentation skills and are of course excellent in English – both written and verbal.
