The Team
Device Development and Support consists of a small team of 9 engaged colleagues with a background as medical device engineers and scientists working in the cross-field between device development, production transfer and technical support to the production site. The team consists of dedicated people with a high team-spirit and competencies within mechanical design, medical device development, design control and risk management, and clinical evaluation of drug delivery products.

The Challenge
As Associated Director you will be responsible for a team of engineers and scientists working in a cross-field between device development and life cycle management as well as production transfer and technical support to the production site. You will be joining colleagues that are highly skilled and have vast experience in their field of expertise and there for you have focus on leadership, setting clear directions, prioritizing, manage resources and the team’s performance & well-being

All tasks will be carried out in close collaboration with the Senior Director and other functions (RA, QA, Project Leaders etc.) and thus it is of importance, that you thrive by working in a cross functional environment and has a good understanding of the device and drug development processes.

We are looking for a well-balanced leader, who can motivate different types of people and adjust the leader style accordingly and actively drive the following responsibilities:

Managing device development engineers, project managers and external consultants.
Creating high performance teams and ensure that employees are familiar with their responsibilities in the department. People management and administrative tasks.
Secure the right competences in the department and ensure that the department complies with current requirements and regulations valid for ALK's medical devices
Cross departmental collaboration in R&D, commercial and with device production in Madrid, Spain and with Contract Manufacturers (CMO).
Life Cycle Management of ALK medical devices and combination products
Ensure project execution on time and to budget.

Your Talent
You have a Life Sciences degree within medical or mechanical engineering, chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or another relevant field and at least 5 years of experience from the Pharmaceutical Device Industry. You have a proven track record of working with Medical Device Development and life cycle management.

You are a well-balanced leader and communicator of ideas, direction and solutions and can navigate in an environment with many stakeholders. The communication will be open, honest, and direct with respect for each other’s skills and expertise. You have talent and passion for leadership, project management and experiences with coordination of complex assignments. You have a proven record of accomplishment and are used to motivate your team in an individual and good way.

As a person, you have a structural approach and a collaborative nature. You are motivated by working in a dynamic environment and taking on new challenges. You like facilitating new ideas and ways to work with your team, by keeping calm and finding the essential elements in an often-unpredicted high pace environment. You think strategically but also act operationally and have of cause excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
